A family in Hickory is seeking a Hybrid School Learning Guide to support two 3rd-grade students participating in a hybrid school program beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year.

The Learning Guide will facilitate at-home learning on non-campus days, helping students stay organized, focused, and engaged while completing their assigned curriculum. The role also includes supporting the students’ daily routine in the home learning environment, including preparing snacks and simple meals as needed, helping manage transitions throughout the day, and transporting them to scheduled extracurricular activities.

This role is ideal for a former elementary educator or experienced tutor who enjoys working with small groups of students and fostering curiosity, independence, confidence, and a positive daily rhythm.

Responsibilities:
  •  Facilitate completion of hybrid school curriculum and assignments
  •  Provide guidance and academic support in reading, writing, and math. 
  •  Help students stay organized and manage their daily schedule. 
  •  Encourage focus, executive functioning, and positive learning habits. 
  •  Maintain an engaging, structured, and supportive home learning environment. 
  •  Prepare snacks and simple meals for students during the day as needed. 
  •  Support students’ daily needs and transitions while learning at home. 
  •  Coordinate with parents regarding progress, assignments, and daily updates. 
  •  Prepare simple educational activities or enrichment when appropriate. 
  •  Transport students to scheduled extracurricular activities as needed.
 
Ideal Candidate:
  •  Background in Elementary Education or related field.
  •  Prior classroom teaching, tutoring, or child-centered educational experience preferred.
  •  Organized, patient, warm, and encouraging teaching style. 
  •  Comfortable supporting executive functioning, focus, and age-appropriate independence. 
  •  Able to balance both learning support and daily care needs in a home setting. 
  •  Strong communication skills with both children and parents. 
  •  Reliable transportation and clean driving record. 
  •  Enjoys working in a collaborative family learning environment.
 
Students:
Two curious and energetic twin third-graders participating in a hybrid learning program. This role focuses primarily on facilitating assigned curriculum and supporting independent learning skills, while also helping create a calm, supportive, and well-managed day at home.

Schedule:
  • Tuesday & Wednesday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
  • Optional Monday: 7:30-9:00 AM & 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM school pickup.

Compensation: $23- $25/hour
